In the real world, mathematical calculations and equations are done with various measuring units, which may need to be converted. If a pocket calculator is not enough to solve your equations, you should turn to ScalarCalc. This lightweight application can convert any measuring units, calculate angles or solve various equations. You can use it for educational purposes or in any working environment.

ScalarCalc doesn't need to be installed like traditional applications. This means that you can store its executable on a removable drive and run the application on any computer. ScalarCalc is absolutely free and it works on most Windows platforms.

The application allows you to perform several operations on separate panels, within the user interface. The main calculator works like other similar tools, but it provides more functions, for inserting constants, converting units, calculating ratios, angles and much more. The results are displayed as plain text, which can be copied to the clipboard. It is also possible to store and tag inserted values or results.

ScalarCalc can solve complex equations, for specific coefficients. It comes with a good number of predefined areas, electrical and physics equations, which are presented in different lists. The equations will be displayed differently, depending on the selected coefficient. You can use the same numbers pad to insert values for each coefficient. Once you insert the values, you just need to click a button, to solve for the desired coefficient. The result can be stored, printed or converted.

The application comes with a large number of unit tables as well. They are categorized in one of the top menus. Once you select a category, you will have to select a unit as well. For example, if you select a volume table, you may choose from certain units, like cubic meters, liters, fluid ounces and so on.

Pros

Besides making complex calculations, the application allows you to convert units and solve equations. You can solve equations for specific coefficients, print the results, store or convert them.

Cons

You can't use the keyboard to insert values or operations. ScalarCalc's unit conversion and equation solving capabilities are proof that it can provide you with much more than most calculator tools on the market.
